NAIDOC 2024 – Westfield X Lauren Rogers

In celebration of NAIDOC 2024, I am proud to collaborate with Westfield to present Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud—a powerful artwork honouring the enduring strength, resilience, and cultural richness of First Nations peoples.

This piece is a visual story of connection, woven through sky, land, and sea. At its heart, a vibrant fire represents the gathering of people, sharing stories and knowledge through yarning. Surrounding the fire, emu and kangaroo tracks, hunting tools, boomerangs, clapsticks, and bush berries honour traditional practices and the deep respect for Country.

Above, the celestial realm—sun, moon, and stars—reflects ancient wisdom and navigation, while below, water bubbles symbolise the life-giving force of water. In the bottom right, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags stand as a testament to recognition, reconciliation, and truth-telling.

This artwork is more than a celebration—it is a call to keep the fire burning, to stand Blak, Loud and Proud, and to honour the legacy of our ancestors while shaping a future grounded in strength and culture.
